CBT Appoints James Buckley (Ex-Apple Big Shot) as President and Chief Operating Officer

CBT Group PLC , a developer of interactive education software for users of information technology, today announced that it has appointed James J. Buckley, 45, as president and chief operating officer, effective September 3.

Buckley was most recently the president of Apple Americas and a senior vice president of Apple Computer, Inc., where he was responsible for all aspects of Apple's business in the U.S., Canada and Latin America. In his position at CBT, he will report to William G. McCabe, chairman and chief executive officer of CBT Group. "We are very pleased that Jim has agreed to join CBT," said McCabe. "Jim has a wealth of experience running a large complex business, which will be of enormous help to us as we move into the next stage of our development.

In addition, Jim possesses significant skills and experience in the corporate and educational marketplace and in channel sales, all of which will be of great value to CBT as we move forward," continued McCabe. "In short, Jim has a unique set of skills and experiences that we believe will be a valuable complement to the strengths of our existing management team." An 11-year veteran of Apple, Buckley held the position of president of Apple USA from October 1993 to November 1995. Prior to that, he was vice president and general manager for Apple USA's Higher Education Division, directing sales, marketing and customer service operations to 3,500 colleges and universities. He also served in a variety of additional sales, marketing and managerial positions at Apple following his employment there in 1985.
