Claris Corporation today announced that Claris Organizer 2.0, the all-in-one personal information manager for Macintosh and Power Macintosh, is now available at authorized Claris resellers in the United States for an estimated retail price of $69; upgrade price of $49. A Windows 95 version of the product is scheduled to ship next year.
Claris Organizer 2.0 provides business, home, and education customers with the easiest, most efficient way to get organized. Version 2.0 is now Internet savvy with new Email Links and Web Links, providing the ability to launch Internet programs like Netscape Navigator or Claris Emailer from within Claris Organizer.
"Claris Organizer 2.0 sets a new standard in usability and efficiency for contact managers," said David Christopher, Claris Organizer customer marketing manager. "It provides customers with an easy-to-use solution for managing business and personal contacts and a powerful feature set for more efficient time management."
The streamlined design of Claris Organizer 2.0 looks and works like no other personal organizer, with a simplified contact card that displays information much like a business card.
Instant Find, Instant Filters, and the new Instant Organizer menu provide instant access to contacts, appointments, tasks, and notes. Other new features, such as Decors, Memorizable Views, the Gripper, Birthday Minder, and field level file synchronization, combine to make Claris Organizer 2.0 a powerful contact manager.
New Features in Claris Organizer 2.0 Instant Links - using AppleScript, the Email Link and Web Link launch Internet programs like Netscape Navigator or Claris Emailer within Claris Organizer. The URL or email address is automatically pasted into the web browser or email message right from the contact card. The Letter Link launches ClarisWorks or MacWrite Pro, creating a letter linked to the contact card.
Instant Organizer - this menu allows people to scan frequently called phone numbers, see upcoming to-dos and appointments, and even create new contacts, appointments and tasks.
Instant Find - can find anyone or anything instantly through a unique search engine via first name, last name, initials, company name, or any combination. People can also conduct full text search of tasks, notes, calendar, or the entire file, or search by any selected field or category.
Instant Filters - provide a way to view a subset of contacts, tasks, and notes through easy pop-up menus. Filter customers by city, state, or country; find friends and family by birthday month; or sort tasks by priority, due date or project.
Memorizable View - one or more filters can be applied at a time to create a custom view that can then be saved, or "memorized" such as "customers in California" or "highest priority tasks due this week."
Decors - provide a way to personalize Claris Organizer, choosing from 15 different looks: from business-like "Linen" to cool "Cave Dude," hot "Chili Peppers," or romantic "Rose Garden."
The Gripper - provides an easy way to create and link any item to another by dragging and dropping it: drag a contact onto the task field to create an attached task to "call" the contact; or drag a task to the calendar to create an attached appointment to "work on" the task.
Birthday Minder - places an annual reminder of the event on the calendar after a birth date has been entered on the contact card.
Field level file synchronization - gives people who travel a way to automatically reconcile the differences between laptop and desktop files at the field level, bringing both files up to date.
