Epson announced the Expression 636 in three new configurations, to meet the demand of different segments of the scanning market. The configurations are as follows.

The Expression 636 desktop flatbed scanner is available for PC or Macintosh. The scanner is 36-bit, with an optical resolution of 600 dpi.

The Expression 636 Executive model for the PC, is bundled with Adobe PhotoShop LE, Xerox TextBridge Pro, NewSoft Presto PageManager and a SCSI interface board and cable. The Mac version drops the NewSoft title. Street price is expected to be $899.

The Expression Pro for the PC adds a transparency unit, Claris HomePage, and MetaTools' Kai's Power Tools. The Mac product replaces PhotoShop with Live Picture. The Street price is expected to be $1,799.

The Expression 636 Artist model contains the same software package, but drops the transparency unit. Street price is expected to be about $500 less than the Pro model.
