E*TRADE Group, Inc., an online securities brokerage firm, today announced promotions of four marketing executives. Named corporate senior vice president, marketing, communications and quality was Rebecca L. Patton. Pamela S. Kramer, Veronica C. Lentfer and Carol Phelan-Marsh were named vice presidents.
"The marketing of online commerce is a new and challenging field," said Christos M. Cotsakos, president and chief executive officer of E*TRADE Group, Inc. "These marketing executives have developed new techno-marketing strategies adapted from their experience with the marketing of consumer technology products and personal financial services," he added.
"The promotions reward their success in building the E*TRADE brand on the new marketing frontier of online commerce. E*TRADE's brand awareness, effective advertising and outstanding online product capabilities continue to fuel the extraordinary growth in our online trading service on the Internet, online services and other electronic gateways," added Cotsakos.
The four executives were all recruited to E*TRADE in the past 12 months to establish the company as the dominant brand in electronic brokerage and drive rapid customer growth. In the wake of their arrival, the customer base has been expanding at more than 10% a month to a current level of approximately 82,000 active accounts.
Rebecca Patton, 41, who has 13 years experience in technology marketing, was promoted to her new post from the position of corporate vice president for marketing. She joined E*TRADE in 1995 after seven years at Apple Computer, most recently as worldwide marketing manager for the Personal Interactive Electronics Division. Ms. Patton has a BA in economics from Duke University and an MBA from Stanford University.
Pamela Kramer, 36, named vice president, product marketing, was promoted from director, product marketing. She joined E*TRADE in 1995 from Storm Primax, Inc., a consumer software company. Ms. Kramer was one of the founders of CyberPuppy Software, Inc., an award-winning children's software company. Earlier in her career, she was employed by Salomon Brothers, Inc., in New York. She has a BA in English literature from the University of Buffalo and an MA in Japanese and East Asian studies from Cornell University.
Veronica Lentfer, 36, named vice president, marketing programs, was promoted from director, marketing programs. She joined E*TRADE this year after 14 years of experience in product marketing and business development for information technology and information provider companies, including Information Access Company, Apple Computer and Knight-Ridder Information Services. Ms. Lentfer has a BS in business administration from U.C., Berkeley, and an MBA from San Jose State.
Carol Phelan-Marsh, 37, named vice president, marketing communications and advertising, was promoted from director, advertising. She joined E*TRADE in 1995 after eight years at the Benham Group of Mutual Funds, most recently as advertising director. Her agency experience includes management positions with J. Walter Thompson and Dancer Fitzgerald Sample. Ms. Phelan-Marsh has a BA in psychology and biology from Mount St. Mary's College in Maryland.
