Intelligent Technologies Inc. Tuesday began shipping IntelliBots1.2 for Windows and Macintosh on CD-ROM.

IntelliBots 1.2 is the next release of the educational software program designed to teach children (and adults) basic computer programming and architecture--without fear. IntelliBots 1.1 for Windows and Macintosh shipped earlier this year.

"Educators and kids alike have really responded to previous versions of IntelliBots. They also asked for more task management challenges and additional locales. We listened. Now IntelliBots 1.2 offers even more locale creativity and task management levels," said Mark Hamilton, president and CEO of Intelligent Technologies.

IntelliBots Technology

IntelliBots is a new technology that enables the user to learn IntelliBots assembly, a form of programming language used by the most popular desktop computers of today. IntelliBots enables any user to take their first development steps by programming futuristic, on-screen "IBots" or robots. Programming assignments begin with simple tasks from the student manual. Example: hard-coding IBots to avoid objects.

The tasks gradually increase in difficulty until the student is writing programs that scan and avoid obstacles, navigate simple mazes, search for goals and eliminate enemy IBots. IntelliBots 1.2 adds more task management challenges and locale options to increase--and hold--the interest of the user.

IntelliBots 1.2 for Windows and Macintosh have a suggested retail price of $59.95 (US). The Windows version requires 386 DX (or higher) processor, Windows 3.1x, 95, or NT, 4 MB RAM (6 MB RAM suggested), 16-color, 13" monitor or higher and 5 MB disk space. The Macintosh version requires a 68020 or higher processor (or PowerPC), MacOS(TM) version 7.0 or higher, 4 MB RAM (6 MB RAM suggested), 16 color monitor (or higher) and 5 MB disk space.
