LSI Logic Corp. today will unveil a digital versatile disc that runs movie players, music players, set-top boxes and other appliances, USA Today reported. Chairman Wilfred Corrigan said he thinks VCRs and laser-disc players will be outnumbered by DVD products within five years, and eventually DVDs will overtake CD-ROMs.
The electronics and semiconductor company said DVD could be the biggest market after personal computers, the paper reported. Last week, LSI announced its most complex chips would have flip-chip technology, which increase their capacity to work with more advanced computers.
