Network operation theory and the practical set-up and use of a small Macintosh network is the focus of a one-day workshop offered by University of California Extension, Santa Cruz in Silicon Valley. "Macintosh Networking Basics" meets Saturday, October 19, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at UCSC Extension's Cupertino facility, 10420 Bubb Road.
Topics include installation and configurations, Apple Talk or Local Talk networks, Ethernet networks, file sharing, use of Chooser and Control Panels, passwords and security issues, network hardware and troubleshooting network problems. This workshop applies as an elective toward UCSC Extension's Certificate Program in Graphic Design and Visual Communication. UCSC Extension's certificate programs are a series of core courses and electives. Most courses can be taken individually as well as part of the certificate programs.
