Power Computing Taps Two Industry Leaders for Top Management Roles

Completing its second year of growth, Power Computing Corporation announced the appointment of former Dell Computer Corporation President of Worldwide Sales, Marketing and Service Joel Kocher to the position of President and COO.

The company also announced the appointment of former Gateway 2000 Vice President Todd S. Osborn to the position of Senior Vice President of Sales.

Both Kocher and Osborn will join the fast-growing MacOS systems manufacturer immediately. Current president and CEO, founder Stephen Kahng, will retain his CEO role and take on new duties as Chairman of the Power Computing Corporation Board of Directors.

Kocher, 40, joined Dell Computer Corporation in 1987 serving in a number of positions including President, Dell USA and later as President Worldwide Sales, Marketing and Service before leaving in late 1994. During his seven year tenure at Dell, the company experienced explosive growth -- rocketing from $100 million to more than $3.6 billion in revenue and more than 3,500 employees.

"The opportunity at Power Computing is very similar to the one that presented itself at Dell in 1987," said Kocher. "Power Computing is a fundamentally strong, growing company with excellent engineering, award-winning products and a solid business proposition. I look forward to working with the Power Computing team to help accelerate the company's already rapid growth and drive further global expansion."

Since leaving Dell, Kocher has served as President and COO of Artisoft, Inc. , a Tucson-based corporation specializing in affordable networking, remote communications and computer telephony solutions and best known for its award-winning LANtastic family of networking products.

"Joel Kocher knows the computer system business and has a proven track record as an industry leader and visionary," said Kahng. "It has always been my intent to build a world class management team with a strong mix of proven systems executives from both the Macintosh and PC arenas. Joel's experience brings not only PC systems acumen, but also the knowledge of building a business around the highly leveraged direct model that both Dell and Power Computing employ."

In addition to the Kocher announcement, Power Computing also announced that Todd S. Osborn, former Vice President of Sales for Gateway 2000, has joined the company as Senior Vice President of Sales.

Osborn, 36, joined Gateway in 1988 as that company's eighth overall employee. During his eight years at the company, Osborn's responsibilities included management of worldwide sales, technical support, and customer satisfaction. At Power Computing, Osborn will be responsible for sales, support and service management as well as serve in the role of General Manager of Power Computing's international operations.
