Motorola's Mobile Computing Products Division announced that the Mac OS compatible version of Montana, its highly acclaimed 28.8 modem/fax PC Card with cellular connectivity, is now shipping. Montana is Macintosh Powerbook Qualified by Apple Computer for 5300 and 190 computers.
Montana is designed for mobile computer users who need high performance, 28.8 Kbps data/14.4 Kbps fax plus remote access to corporate networks, e-mail, the Internet, and wireless capabilities for anytime/anywhere communications. Montana for Macintosh's wireless capabilities include Performance Matched connectivity to Motorola cellular phones.

Data/Fax Modem Features
Montana provides 28.8 Kbps modem performance at V.34 standard modulation. Operating at DTE rates of up to 230.4 Kbps, the modem offers increased throughput with V.42bis/MNP5 data compression. Error correction via V.42/ MNP2-4 specifications ensures the integrity of transferred data. Fax operation is at 14.4 Kbps, and is compatible with Group 3, Class 1 and 2 fax machines.
Montana is bundled with the MacComCenter data/fax software package from SmithMicro Software, Inc. MacComCenter combines intuitive operation with advanced productivity tools such as broadcast and scheduling capabilities, automatic dialing, answering and smart-dialer functions.
Montana is compatible with Powerbook 5300 and 190. Montana incorporates Flash ROM for easy future enhancement upgrades, and includes a dual RJ-11 connector that allows a computer and telephone to share a single telephone line.
