Smart and Friendly and Macromedia together have designed a complete multimedia CD-Recordable solution by combining the Smart and Friendly CD-R 2004/PRO CD-Recorder with Macromedia Director(R) 5 to create the CD-R 2004/PRO MM.

Macromedia Director 5 is the industry-leading, award-winning authoring tool for multimedia and the Internet. Targeted at multimedia and Web developers, Director 5 delivers the power, performance, productivity, and platform support that demanding users require to create true cross-platform multimedia.

Director 5 allow users to quickly and easily import and integrate media elements such as 2D and 3D graphics, animation, sound, and digital video from a wide variety of sources. With Director users provide timing and interactivity for those media elements and then create standalone interactive applications. Director can be used to create CD-ROMs for entertainment and education, corporate presentations, digital publications, visualizations, simulations, and more.

The CD-R 2004/PRO MM is offered as a complete hardware-software solution, with a SCSI-2 host adapter and Easy-CD Pro software for Windows 3.1x, 95, NT, and Macintosh. In addition, Windows 95 users of the CD-R 2004/PRO MM can take advantage of packet recording capability and mastering software that can be accessed in five languages. The CD-R File System (CDRFS) software enables users to save and retrieve text-based data files on CD-R discs as though they were hard disks. Easy-CD Pro software offers commands, menus, and dialog boxes in English, Italian, French, Spanish, and German.

The CD-R 2004 is a quad-speed reader and double-speed recorder. Its 165 ms seek time makes the drive among the fastest in the CD recorder market. The recorder supports multiple recording modes -- CD-DA, CD-ROM, CD-ROM/XA, Mixed Mode CD, PhotoCD, VideoCD, Multisession CD-ROM, and packet recording.

The CD-R 2004/PRO MM is available now. Its estimated street price of $799 for internal units includes Macromedia Director 5.0, Easy-CD Pro, and CDRFS software. An external version is available at an estimated street price of $899.
