Sonic Systems, Inc. , in conjunction with RUN, Inc., today announced an agreement in which Sonic will bundle RunShare network acceleration software with its Fast Ethernet cards. RunShare, valued at $200, accelerates network file transfers by up to 500%.
RunShare, a System 7 extension, is available immediately with Sonic's EtherFE 10/100 PCI and NuBus cards to transparently accelerate file transfers between Macintosh computers. Since it is an extension, no user training is required to achieve data transfer rates 3-5 times faster than without RunShare.
"After investigating several options to increase the throughput of Macs in a Fast Ethernet environment, we decided to bundle RunShare because of it's unequaled performance and ease of use," said Sudhakar Ravi, Vice President of Engineering for Sonic Systems. Mr. Ravi continued, "In a recent magazine review of Fast Ethernet cards, our EtherFE 10/100 line tested at, or near the top, in all categories. The addition of RunShare now gives our cards a distinct performance and value advantage over those from other manufacturers."
Steve Holder, President of RUN USA, Inc. adds, "Sonic is well known for their commitment to providing exceptional value and performance in networking equipment, we are very pleased that Sonic has selected our software for inclusion with their Fast Ethernet cards."
The EtherFE 10/100 PCI has a suggested retail price of $199, the EtherFE 10/100 NuBus has a suggested retail price of $299. Both are FCC Class A and European CE certified, and come with a Lifetime Warranty and unlimited technical support. All Sonic products are available to end-users from Authorized Apple Dealers.
