SyQuest Technology Inc.manufacturer removable cartridge hard drives, today appointed electronics industry veteran Joseph Baia to its board of directors.

The appointment fills the seat left vacant by the resignation of founder Syed Iftikar and adds additional operations experience to a new SyQuest executive team.

"Baia is an important addition to the SyQuest team," said SyQuest Chairman Ed Marinaro. "He brings to the company strong experience that will help us aggressively compete for greater marketshare."

Previously, Baia spent 18 years as co-founder, vice chairman and a member of the board of directors of Western Digital Corp.
