Starnine/Quarterdeck WebSTAR has been upgraded to version 1.3. The upgrade offers enhanced performance and a plug-in architecture (API). The API is designed to replace Common Gateway Interface (CGI) applications with server "plug-ins" that share memory with the server and provide a faster, more efficient mechanism for extending WebSTAR's functionality.

According to Quarterdeck, a number of third-party developers have already begun creating plug-ins, including Apple, Adobe, Everyware, Maxum, and Pacific Coast. You can download an evaluation copy by filling out a form.
