Xinet, Inc., a provider of Macintosh/Unix connectivity products, shipped support today for Asante''s NetDoubler, a network acceleration utility for Macintosh.
After weeks of systematic testing, using NetDoubler in conjunction with Xinet's client/server file sharing software K-AShare, Xinet has seen file transfer rates of up to 5.2MB/second between the Unix server and networked Macs. Xinet support for NetDoubler is available free with client/server software K-AShare and prepress server FullPress.
"NetDoubler is the best network performance enhancement available today for the Macintosh," said Bob Kridle, president of Xinet. "We are offering NetDoubler support so our customers can experience immediate, substantial improvements in performance on their existing networks." NetDoubler provides faster throughput by using advanced caching, read-ahead server technology, highly optimized data transmissions using TCP/IP and optimization of adapter and driver software.
"These acceleration rates using NetDoubler with the Xinet products on Sun and SGI servers are among the fastest we've seen," said Paul Smith, vice president of marketing at Asante'. "We are very pleased to provide such excellent performance for our customers in graphics, publishing and prepress."
