Xircom Inc. announced the appointment of Scott A. Coleman as senior vice president of sales and marketing.

In his new capacity, Coleman reports to president and CEO, Dirk Gates, and is responsible for the sales and marketing direction of Xircom's PC Card products in the Americas.

Coleman joins Xircom from Apple Computer Inc., where he has served as eastern regional manager since 1989. In his position at Apple, he managed a $650 million business with responsibility for sales of Apple products through all channels of distribution. Over his 11-year sales career with Apple, Coleman held various senior sales positions, including sales development manager for eastern operations and district sales manager.

From September 1981 to March 1985, Coleman managed a $100 million key account sales territory for Eastman Kodak Company's Consumer Products Division.

"Scott joins Xircom at an opportune time as we begin delivering a number of innovative PC Card products like the CreditCard Ethernet Adapter 10/100," said Gates. "With his extensive experience in selling through all channels of distribution and managing Fortune 1000 accounts, Scott is well positioned to capitalize on the strong growth of the portable computer market and the delivery of these new products to lead the company to its sales growth goals."
